Hello faithful readers and random people who stumbled across this blog! I, Mia, will be posting about my action packed three week trip through Japan alongside Myra's posts of her year long visit. And though I say action packed, the first day of any trip is kind of boring because it involves nothing but travel. But don't worry! Later I will have Rich post about his First Class experience and that will surely make up for my boring post.
We departed our fair hometown at 3:00 PM on Friday the 20th. We landed in LA not long after and had a nice 3 hour layover where we had a chance to grab a bite to eat and charge our devices. Then we boarded our plane, ate some of the worst airplane food I've ever had the misfortune to consume (we tried both dishes and neither were good, though mine was worse). We watched Star Trek Into Darkness and then took some sort of sleeping pill that worked wonders, since we only woke up when they started serving breakfast 7 hours later (which was also pretty gross). I have never slept that long on a flight and it made it feel like a really short trip. It was about an hour later we landed in Tokyo. The line for customs was super short, a nice lady took a photo of mom and me:
And when we went to the bus stop the shuttle was waiting there unloading people. So 10 short minutes later we were at our hotel. We checked in, found our "rooms":
I should mention that our hotel was a capsule hotel. It was a little expensive, but the ride into Tokyo would have been an hour and we would have had to take a taxi, since the last train departed before we cleared customs.
We really enjoyed the bath and the sleeping experience was pretty good too, minus the lady who snored mightily while we tried to fall asleep.
Also, per expectations, all toilets encountered so far have bidets. Life is good.
Your room is not that much smaller than mine.
