Day 33, April 15 (Mon)

Yuki helped me jump-start my car and I drove it to Kaori’s place, they replaced the battery so now I have a working car. I cleaned out the ashtray and threw the cushions and stuff in the wash so it almost feels cleaner.

I did some lesson planning, then back to my apartment for various stuffs. It was a sunny day and there I was inside. So very sad.

Overcome by this sadness, I decided to go out, but at this point it was cloudy. I practiced TKD in one of the classrooms. It was nice having space, but I winced every time I jumped or set down hard in my stance because the whole room shook :p

While dirty, I took the opportunity to clean my car, and take my garbage to the collection area, which is a few blocks away.

Then I did accounting and scanned my receipts. I could give you a picture. Oh — here’s my supermarket receipt for today.

  1. How long does lesson planning take you? Can you do a whole week's worth at once?

I always enjoy the pictures you post, but just curious- can you read what it says? -By the way, happy tax day. ; )

I got my car detailed last week, down to the compartments. Being forced to organize, I threw out a bunch of junk! I bet you feel even better having accomplished it yourself!

I had the weather do the same to me, the sun drew me out like you, but then got cloudy and breezy. Too cool to stay long.

But worse than yesterday- today is SNOWING! But you know what they say about lemons- so I'm going cross country skiing. : )

  2. Lesson planning takes quite a while. I can do some in advance, I actually try to plan the next lesson right after the lesson ends, but before each lesson I have to change my mindset and try to remember what I'm going to be doing....

I can read most of what the receipt says.

It was actually warm here today, to my surprise. I got TOO WARM. Hope you had a great time skiing.

  3. I'm not surprised about lesson planning. Helen used to tell us about changing grades taking months of prep, and that's in the exact subject as before- and all the same age child.

I'm impressed you can read all that alien scribbling!

Yesterday was a mixed bag, since just before I got out of the car to go cross countrying, I heard about the bomb going off at the Boston Marathon. Very sad.

On the brighter side, the weather got nice, and started to clear. I was actually too warm, too. And the snow was too scarce to go very far, but I had fun (I went cross country, not what I call 'skiing'.) Glad you had a warm day for a change. Is it shorts weather yet? Nice!!

Also nice is that we got most of our lodging booked for our Japan trip! I'm getting excited, especially to see you, but also to see Japan.
