We slept in, ate a large and very tasty breakfast, packed up our meager belongings, then took a shuttle, a fancy double decker bus, and a catamaran to get to Ko Tao (Turtle Island). The boat ride was two hours and we spent most of ride feeling seasick. It was an odd feeling for us, not being seasick inclined folk, but only one of us gave into the nausea and made use of the little bags they passed out.
We arrived gratefully on land, where we walked a whole five minutes to Blue Diamond resort, were we shalt stay for the next 3 nights. We like our room well enough, save one thing that bothers all of us - four girls - the shower. That is, the lack of one. We have an ugly little bathroom. And a shower head with a hose on the wall. Right next to the toilet. Some of us were annoyed by the way the entire bathroom gets soaked when someone showers, while others are annoyed by the complete lack of water pressure. Our parents have a real shower, the lucky ducks.
We spent about 15 minutes in the room, then we were off to the water. The water in Mae Haad bay is super warm and a good depth. The resort has a strip of beach in front of the restaurant, but it is fairly easy to get to the water from just about anywhere.
We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant where we could look out over the bay and enjoy the company of the mosquitos. The food was excellent, as has been the food everywhere, though Ani would like to pay particular homage to their lemon smoothies (called 'shakes' here for some reason, I don't think they have milk let alone ice cream in them).
We retired happily to bed, wondering if we would indeed wake on the morn, as the world is due to end....
