Day 9 - Dec 23 - Leaving the bad shower

The best thing about leaving Koh Tao was arriving at a pretty resort where we shared TWO bathrooms -- with better showers!

We had to check out of our hotel in Koh Tao at 10:00, but our ferry wasn't till 3:00, so we spent our time hanging around the resort, biding time until we set off. After a lovely lunch, where we got our first family photo of the trip, we went to the docks. Sadly, there was an hour long delay, so we waited on uncomfortable benches, in the heat, reading our books.

Ani didn't get as sea sick as the last ferry, thank goodness, but the ride seemed much bouncer than the last time and it was raining... We arrived in Koh Samui an hour later than expected, because of the delay, then got a van right off the docks to take us across the island to our next resort. It was a forty minute drive, and it was the first time we had seat belts since our plane ride to Thailand. I have trouble trusting the drivers here, because it always seems like we are going to die, but when we don't, I gain great respect for them.

Koh Samui is much larger than Koh Tao, and so are our rooms! The family rooms, which us four girls share, is just two rooms connected by a door, so we have a lot of room and two bathrooms (as I said before). We also have a real shower that has heat and pressure, unlike the excuse of a shower at the last place.
The food seems more expensive here, but it's still as delicious as the other places in Thailand we've seen so far. We decided to have dinner at the resort, for convenience, but there was a loud horn that honked every few seconds. Apparently the frogs like the rain and mud and can be very loud during mating season.

So we went to bed amidst the chorus of jungle creatures.
